Mango that translates in Hindi as Aam, seems to be overdoing in Bollywood these days. No wonder it?s one of the tastiest fruits but off lately we?re overeating it, aren?t we? First, it was Katrina as the dalicious Aamsutra girl in a juice commercial. Saif Ali Khan punning ?ordinary people? into ?aam janta? in Love Aaj Kal and then Rambha made a comeback as Mango Dolly in Quickgun Murugan. After seeing so many juicy ways of aam, this Aamras tastes stale. Aam (mango) without raas (juice), we say. It?s a simple story of four school friends Jiya (Vega), Pari (Natasha), Rakhi (Maanvi) and Sanya (Aanchal), with different family backgrounds. Pari is the rich spoilt brat, Rakhi, the carefree punjabi kudi, Jiya is the usual middle class sweet girl, and Sanya the confident one among the four. The line-up follows regular romantic twist?which is also the biggest set back to it. Girls looked little older to be player school girls? role. Except for Ajay Singh Choudhury, rest of the cast did justice to their characters. Though, youthcentric films flooding in the Bollywood recently, this one tried to give a fresh feel?it failed but a good attempt. Another set-back is the overly done get-up considering the fact that they are playing school kids. Since Aamras is Rupali Guha?s directorial debut, we give her five on ten. However, we would suggest her to strike a balance in her upcoming movies. Music has the chick-flick touch to it with the opening track Jubse Hum Hue Jawan. It has both English and Hindi tracks, making it more comfortable for the generation it is tagtteted for? The verdict is not a ?no-no? but definitely not worth watching at a plush theatre paying through your nose.
